FUND RAISER OPEN HOUSE IN GRAND RAPIDS:
We have an opportunity for a unique easy fundraiser. We and all other snowmobile clubs in this area received a letter from Ray’s Sport & Cycle in Grand Rapids announcing a Ski-Doo factory promotion.
Our club will receive a contribution of $10 for each of our members (up to a maximum total of $1,500) who prints a certificate on www.ski-doo.com labeled the Million Dollar Club Support Program, completes the certificate, and delivers it to Ray’s Cycle open house on Friday October 16th from 8:30am-8:00pm or Saturday October 17th from 8:30am-5:00pm. Certificates will also be available at
the Open House. If you are going to be in Grand Rapids that week-end, please consider attending to raise funds for our various needs. Remember, if you have a family membership, each family member who lives at home qualifies. This is a great way for those who cannot be active in other club activities to raise funds for the club. Several hundred dollars could be quickly raised.
You will find enclosed a membership application and return envelope. Please consider early submission of your dues to help out with the funding for our new groomer, drag and related expenditures. If you know of someone else who would like to join the club, please copy the application before completing it for us, and give them a copy. Please return your completed form and check in the envelope provided as soon as possible. You will be eligible to vote for the candidates at the annual meeting only if you paid your dues for last year, or you have paid for this coming year.
FUEL AWARDS-VOLUNTEER FOR TRAIL CLEANING:
We have agreed to give a $25 gas certificate for each member’s ATV or snowmobile who agrees to perform trail maintenance and/or pack down the trails this fall and early winter. Come to the next meeting to hear the details. This is an honor system award and you will have assigned trails to maintain and/or pack. You will not be covered by the club’s insurance program and will need to sign a hold harmless agreement to obtain the certificate.
Step one has been completed A new hanging furnace has been installed. Gus, Archie and Mike need volunteers to help with the rest of the project.
New signs have been ordered and we have a plan for installation. The trails will be better marked this year.
TRAIL COORDINATOR REPORT-JIM JACKSON:
The re-route near the Marcell Town Hall has been approved and will be worked on this month. The re-route by Ritter’s gravel pit still needs a couple of approvals and we will be ready to go. We have grant funding for up to 75% of the costs which were obtained thru Mike Hughes efforts.
We are in the last stages of obtaining funds for the new tractor/groomer. It appears that we will be purchasing a New Holland tractor with Soucy Tracks. We are still negotiating on a new drag for the new tractor. The John Deere and the ASV DX need some repairs before the December 1st deadline. We need to build a small addition to the Marcell garage to accommodate the new tractor/groomer with drag. The John Deere and the DX will be parked at the Effie garage.
BIGFORK WILDERNESS DAY:
I forgot to thank Peggy and Grant McDougall, Zona and Gordy Kinn (who permitted us to use The Shop’s booth), Helen and Jim Oestreich, and Archie, Dan and Mark Wass for helping man the booth at the Bigfork Wilderness Day event on June 13th. THANKS
See you at the Annual Meeting at the Stuffed Moose
